Thanks to the power of EXPEED 7 and deep-learning technology, this full-frame mirrorless camera brings you the ultimate manual-focus assist: subject detection. If you engage subject detection while shooting in manual focus (MF), the Z f will recognise your subject and automatically move the focus point to it.

Subject detection in MF works whether you’re shooting through the viewfinder or on the monitor. And you can use it when shooting with vintage F-mount lenses too.

Epic Focus Coverage

With 299 Auto-Area AF points covering the sensor, you can focus sharply on your subject anywhere in the frame. Compose how you like, the Zf is primed to follow your lead.

Tracking that knows

People, birds, animals, vehicles, planes... even if they're small, fast or moving erratically. The Zf will detect and track your subject without missing a beat.

Custom wide-area AF

Want to define your own focus area? An incredible 77 custom patterns for stills (66 for video) let you set the precise shape, size and position of your focus area.

Sees in the dark

Autofocus works down to -10 EV, so even night time photography is possible with Nikon Zf.

Backlight, tamed

AF pixels on the sensor let you nail backlit scenes. Faces are in focus, even if theres a strong light source directly behind your subject.

Fast frame rates

Capture up to 30fps (JPEG Large or normal only) continuous shooting or 14 frames per second when shooting RAW. All with full Autofocus and autoexposure.

Pre-release capture

Surprise yourself with the moments you didn't see. The Nikon Zf can record for up to a second before you press the shutter-release button.

Cinematic video

Capture the moments that can't be scripted - even when the light keeps changing. Crisp 4K resolution, smooth AF, clear audio (and external mic input) and long recording times give you the power to express yourself with video.

From 4K UHD to super slo-mo

Film brilliantly sharp 4K footage (oversampled from 6K) at 24p and 30p frame rates. Slow it down with 4K/60p or Full-HD/120p.

Long takes. Flexible compression.

One-take videos are possible with recording times of up to 125 minutes (with suitable memory card and power). Shoot in 8-bit or 10-bit H.265/HEVC, in SDR and in HLG or N-Log.

Auto setting control when shooting in S mode.

The Z f is the first Nikon Z camera to support full setting control in shutter-priority mode. ISO and aperture are automatically adjusted, which is ideal for filming in changing light.

Incredible stabilsation

For video, you can combine the in-camera sensor-shift VR with electronic VR. You’ll be able to nail smooth handheld walking shots and if you’re using a NIKKOR Z wide-angle lens, any trapezoid distortion is corrected. In-body image stabilisation (VR) even works if you're using the FTZ adapter with Nikon F mount lenses.

Touchscreen control

Use the monitor to shoot. You can lock the Nikon Zf's top dials and set ISO, aperture and exposure via the menu.

Dual card slots

The streamlined body still has space for two card slots - one SD card and one MicroSD, expanding your options for shooting and storage.

Fully rotating vari-angle monitor

The first fully rotatable touchscreen vari-angle monitor in a full-frame Nikon Z camera makes it easy to shoot from any angle while maintaining a clear view of the frame.

Touch Fn

Touch FN lets you assign key controls to nine customisable areas on the bright, high-res touchscreen. It’s a flexible and intuitive way to operate the camera: you only need to tap on an area to move your focus point, switch between your subjects’ eyes, select grid displays, activate a virtual horizon, and more.

Vertical shooting mode

If you turn the camera to shoot vertically, on-screen menus and controls rotate to a vertical orientation. And the camera automatically enters portrait mode if you turn the monitor towards yourself.
