Advanced rectilinear optical design
This ensures your straight lines are straight, even at the edges of the frame - a must-have for architecture photographers.
Peripheral Control Image Stabilizer
Up to 5-stops of stabilisation for photos (6 stops with a compatible EOS R series body) and super-stable video, even in the corners of the frame.
Wide-angle lenses usually produce a "wobble" in video when stabilised, but the Peripheral Control IS counteracts this for smooth video.
Enhanced Optics
Advanced coatings are designed to prevent ghosting and flare whilst maintaining resolution and contrast.
Three Glass Moulded (GMo) aspheric lens elements ensure image quality is maintained edge to edge and throughout the entire zoom range.
Ultra-Low Dispersion (UD) and Super UD elements reduce chromatic aberration throughout the zoom range and ensure colours are rendered accurately and with minimal colour blurring.
Incredible Autofocus
STM linear motors ensure smooth, quiet and accurate AF for stills and video.
A new position sensor has also been added to the STM motor for faster start-up time.
