Manufactured with Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) the lens body is durable and has a premium look and feel to it. The lens is also constructed with weather-sealing elements, offering protection against dust and moisture, letting you get on with the task at hand even if surrounding conditions do take a turn.

Constructed of 15 elements in 11 groups, this lens includes 5 Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements and 1 aspherical element to reduce chromatic aberration and distortion. The lens features an AF/MF switch and has a dedicated aperture ring, which can be de-clicked. This makes the lens a useful choice for those shooting video, as well as stills, as it enables smooth adjustment of the aperture setting rather than hard stops. The aperture ring features a lock switch that keeps it in either Auto or Manual, preventing it from being accidentally knocked mid-shoot. A powerful stepping motor ensures fast, accurate and quiet autofocus, plus excellent autofocus tracking capability.
