With a versatile 100-400mm zoom range, the SIGMA 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM | Contemporary lens is ideal for a range of different photography types such as wildlife, sports, portraits and much more. When fitted to an APS-C (crop) sensor camera, the effective focal length is boosted further to approx. 160-640mm. Weighing in at only approx. 1.2kg, it's lighter and more compact than many similar lenses, providing a handy option for a large focal range without adding a huge amount of weight to your kit bag.

With the inclusion of SIGMA's Optical Stabilisation (OS) system, camera shake is minimized, making it much easier to get sharp images even when zoomed to the end of the focal range and when shooting handheld with the lens. The inclusion of this makes it easier to capture clear images of subjects which are far away and fast moving, requiring movement of the camera to follow them such as when shooting wildlife or sports action from afar.

The lens is constructed of 21 elements in 15 groups, with one Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass element to reduce chromatic aberration and ensure high image quality across the zoom range. Flare and ghosting are suppressed with SIGMA's Multi-Layer Coating, providing sharp, high-contrast images, even in harshly-lit conditions. Whilst lightweight, the lens doesn't compromise on build quality. The lens is manufactured with high-quality plastics with a metal mount, making it durable but without too much added weight. The mount is sealed to protect against dust and splashes, meaning that the lens is suited to use outdoors and in fairly inclement conditions.

This lens delivers sharp images across the focal range, controlling chromatic aberration, flare, ghosting and with minimal distortion. The nine-bladed diaphragm helps to produce lovely looking bokeh, which makes the lens a useful asset if shooting portraits.
