Get More From Your Camera
Saturday 16th February
After a coffee or cup of tea, independent camera reviewer, Angela Nicholson will begin with an explanation of some of the latest photographic developments and less well-known features, outlining how they can benefit your photography.
There will then be an opportunity to handle some of the latest cameras and photographic gear in a relaxed environment (approximately 90mins in total). Liz Jeary, SheClicks member and a member of the Wilkinson Cameras Liverpool team will also be available to answer any questions about the latest equipment.
An idea of the topics to be covered include:
- innovations in cameras and what they can do for you eg Olympus Live Bulb mode etc
- Wi-Fi connectivity
- Sony Eye AF
- Fujifilm Simulation modes
- finding your safe hand-holding shutter speed
This will be followed by a walk around the City of Liverpool (about 2 hours) during which time you'll discover how to get more from your camera.
Photo Shoot at Antony Gormley's Another Place, Crosby
Sunday 17th February
Meet with Angela and Wilkinson Cameras' own resident expert, Sara Penwarden, to photograph Antony Gormley's spectacular installation at Crosby Beach. Angela and Sara will help you explore the potential of the location and guide you through shooting long exposures.
Please note that meeting location and times will be emailed to atendees approximately 5-7 days in advance. The workshop will take place from around 10am until 4pm, but times will be defined nearer the time as we will need to work around the tides.
Angela is a freelance photographer, journalist and reviewer of cameras and photographic equipment. She's been testing gear from all the major manufacturers since 2004, writes and produces video for CameraJabber and founded the female-only photography community SheClicks.
Angela has written numerous photographic technique articles and videos and is a great face-to-face teacher with a relaxed approach which will instantly put you at ease.
Angela started the group towards the end of 2018 based on feedback and the response has been staggering. SheClicks invites female photographers of all levels, from beginner to professional, to join the free community online and in person at special events like these. What to Bring
- For both events you will need to ensure you have brought your camera, any lenses you wish to use, suitable memory cards and a fully charged battery (or two!)
- Please check the weather. You may need to consider protection for your camera. For example an Emergency Rain Cover or RainSleeve.
- For both events please consider that you will be outside and it may be cold and wet. Please dress accordingly and wear appropriate footwear.
- For Sunday's photoshoot, please bring any filters you have, filter holders, etc. and a tripod.
Saturday - this event takes place at Wilkinson Cameras Liverpool store on Bold Street. Tea, coffee, water and biscuits will be provided. There is a fridge available for packed lunches or we are ideally located for a huge range of lunch options within a short walking distance.
Sunday - No refreshments will be provided. Please bring enough water for the day, a packed lunch and we'd also recommend a flask with a warm drink as it may be rather cold!
Do I need to be a member of SheClicks?
No, not at all! But you are more than welcome to join SheClicks if it is of interest to you. Find out more on The Blog.
Why is this women only?
Please read our Blog Post where we interviewed Angela to talk about SheClicks. The group was set up due to feedback and demand for a female photography community.
I'm a man, can I come?
Sorry, this is a women only event. We understand you may be disappointed. We're sure you don't think of female photographers as being any different from male photographers and we're as sad as you are that there is still a need for a single-sex event. But, these events and the SheClicks group have come about due to demand and feedback from female photographers.
This is sexist, where is the male-only event?
We're running these female only photography events in association with SheClicks due to feedback and demand. We haven't been asked for male-only events, but of course we will consider these for future if the demand is high enough. You can contact us if you'd like to suggest events for the future.
Your ticket will be emailed to you. It is in the form of a PDF attachment. Please check your junk mail, "other" or "promotions" folders depending on your mail system.
