Join us in Liverpool for an exciting hands-on introductory portraiture workshop with Rotolight. This is a studio based photography workshop using Rotolight's LED lights and working with a professional model. This workshop is intended for those interested in and looking to invest in the Rotolight system and will allow you to fully test it out in a real-world setting.

About this Rotolight Portrait Photography Workshop:

Join us in Liverpool for a practical introductory portraiture workshop. You will use Rotolight’s advanced LED lighting to help you take your portraits to the next level as you work through single and multiple light set ups and the use of light modifiers and accessories alongside to create different effects & styles. The group size will be kept small to ensure you get to use the lights and have some one-on-one advice from Rotolight's Darren Fellows. Your ticket price includes the full day workshop, a light lunch and access to special exclusive offers if you want to purchase Rotolight on the day.

Rotolight's award-winning range of LED lighting offers an array of benefits for your work - with a powerful, high quality continuous light including fully tuneable colour temperature (3150-6300K) and adjustable brightness, you can see exactly how the light falls on your subject and preview the shot ahead of time. Learn how to use the innovative lighting equipment to suit your portrait photography, whether you're in studio or on location.

 

On this workshop you'll learn to use the Rotolight system with expert advice and practical sessions with a model including:

  • Posing a client
  • Single light set-up
  • Three light set-up
  • Using softboxes & gels
  • Post processing basics

 

Schedule:

The below is intended as a guide to how the day will take place and topics covered. Questions and Answers and hands-on sessions do sometimes result in timings changing on the day.

10.00am Arrival, refreshments will be available
10.15am General introduction from Darren and an introduction to the Rotolight system
11.00am Tutorial: Posing a client
11.30am Tutorial & Practical: Using single light set-ups
12.30pm Lunch (provided*)
1.00pm Tutorial & practical: Using a three light set-up
1.45pm Break
2.00pm Tutorial & practical: Getting creative with softboxes & gels
2.45pm - Break
3.00pm - Processing in Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop overview
4.00pm - Finish

 There will be chance for questions and answers throughout the day.

 

What to bring:

Essential: Camera and lens (we suggest a versatile zoom lens as a minimum, but please also feel free to bring along any suitable prime lenses or favourite portrait lenses). Please note that camera equipment is not available to borrow on this course.

Essential: A fully charged camera battery and either a spare battery or your battery charger

Essential: A suitable memory card

 

Rotolight equipment available to try and use on the day with include:

Neo 2
Aeos
Anova Pro
Gels, barn doors and other lighting modifiers.


The Day:

This workshop takes place at Wilkinson Cameras Liverpool - please remember that this store has relocated to Bold Street.

*Lunch is provided. If you have any dietary requirements, please ensure you contact us letting us know at least 7 days in advance. We will try our best to accommodate your needs, but in cases where this isn't possible we will inform you in good time. A fridge and microwave are available in The Learning Suite, so you may also bring your own food, if you prefer.

Please be aware that workshops can run over depending on how many questions are asked and unforseen circumstances. We therefore advise allowing a little extra time when planning travel times, booking tickets on public transport or if you are paying upfront for a pay and display car park.

 

Ticket Information

Accessibilty - Please note that the Learning Suite, Wilkinson Cameras Liverpool's training area, is located on the first floor. There is no stair lift or elevator to this floor.
