Hoghton Tower is a Grade I listed fortified manor house on the outskirts of Preston and Blackburn. The present building has been in existence since the 1500's and it has been the home of the de Hoghton family since at least the 12th century. It is still inhabited by the Hoghton Family to this day and we have arranged extensive, private access to the hall and its grounds for this workshop.
This event takes place in Lancashire, in January! We will be going outside into the grounds and possibly also into underground passages where the floors are damp. It may be cold outside, the ground may be icy or wet. There may even be snow. Please dress accordingly and ensure that you have good outdoor shoes with proper grip.
Remember, this is a very old manor house. Whilst fireplaces will be lit in the meeting areas and some locations, it will still be very cold indoors compared to a normal building! Please wrap up warmly and consider layers so you can adjust as we move from room to room and indoors to outdoors.
Please get in touch if you have any dietary requirements, no later than January 20th 2019.
In the event of snow:
The Tower is located just off a main road. Access to the main entrance road should not be a problem, unless there is a major weather incident.
However, the main road to the venue is a long, steep, single width road. We do not advise attempting to drive up it unless you have a suitable vehicle.
Please be prepared to park at the bottom of the hill. You may need to walk up the hill or we will try to organise a suitable vehicle to ferry people to and from the entrance to their cars.
Who will be there?
Sony UK will be providing equipment for the shoot and everyone attending will be loaned a Sony A7 series camera and lenses to use throughout the day. They will also be on hand to answer any questions and provide additional technical support.
Rotolight will also be attending the event for additional support, advice and to provide lighting for use throughout the shoot.
Fotospeed will also be on hand to offer prints of your images from the day and showcase their range of professional papers.
Wilkinson Cameras will also be attending and we will have exclusive special offers available on the Alpha series cameras and lenses for workshop atendees. If you're looking to switch systems, then this is a perfect chance to try before you buy.
