The RF 35mm f/1.8 MACRO IS STM provides a view that’s slightly wider than that of the human eye, but retains a natural perspective that is perfect for street, travel and environmental portrait photography, as well as filmmaking. Image quality is superb – an advanced optical formula delivers superb sharpness while Super Spectra Coating protects against flare when shooting into the sunlight.
Shoot handheld in low-light conditions
A great lens for shooting handheld in low light: the RF 35mm f/1.8 MACRO IS STM features a five-stop Image Stabilizer* that includes Hybrid IS and Combination IS information protecting against blur from camera shake when shooting stills, plus a fast f/1.8 maximum aperture that allows faster shutter speeds to be used. When shooting at close distances, a Hybrid IS system compensates for the type of unwanted camera shake typically encountered when shooting macro subjects. The lens also allows Combination IS, which works with EOS R bodies for 5-axis stabilisation to deliver super-steady video footage, even while walking with the camera.
Capture intricate details with macro close-focusing
Get up close and personal using the lens’s macro capabilities to capture intricate patterns and fine detail. This highly versatile lens features a minimum focusing distance of just 17cm, which allows tiny objects to be reproduced at half life-size magnifications, and with incredible clarity.

Adjust exposure settings such as shutter speed, aperture and ISO using a customisable Lens Control Ring. Quiet STM focusing is responsive when shooting stills and smooth for video. Lens Information Display compatibility lets information such as focus distance be shown in the viewfinder or screen of EOS R cameras.
